Conservative pressure caused a company to withdraw its ad money from a channel airing a TV show describing the daily lives of American Muslims, reports claimed.
The show “All-American Muslim” on American station TLC tells the story of several American Muslim families living in the post 9/11 atmosphere of the United States. Until recently, the show was sponsored by Lowe's, a home improvement retail chain.
The company soon decided to withdraw its sponsorship due to mounting pressure from conservative Christian communities, who accused the show of voicing Islamic propaganda.
Conservative voices claimed the show attempted to eradicate concerns over terrorism by showing regular Muslims in their daily lives.
Despite public outcry against the company's decision, Lowe's defended its withdrawal by saying the show had become an issue of politics.
Other firms are also planning to withdraw their sponsorship, according to reports.
