Two awards for Özpetek film in Italy

Turkish director Ferzan Özpetek’s latest film “Magnifica Presenza” (Magnificent Presence) has won two awards at Italy’s prestigious Nastri d’Argento (Silver Ribbon).

The Nastri d’Argento movie awards have been given since 1946 for cinematic performances and production by the Association of Italian Film Critics. The Nastro d’Argento is the oldest film award in Europe, and the second oldest in the world.

The award for best film at the 66th Nastro d’Argento went to Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s “This Must Be the Place,” while Italian director Marco Tıllio Giordana’s “Story of a Massacre” won the award for best screenplay.

Pierfrancesco Favino won the “best actor” award for his role in “A.C.A.B” and “Story of a Massacre,” and Micela Ramazzoti took “best actress” for her roles in “The Big Heart of Girls” and “Standing in Paradise.”
Özpetek’s film “Magnificent Presence” was nominated in nine categories and won the best story and best costume awards.

The film will also compete ton July 3 at the Globo D’Oro awards.
