Police officers began manning the guard posts at the Turkish Parliament compound today as the military’s 91-year-old Parliament Battalion was officially dissolved.

Soldiers clad in Army, Navy and Air Force uniforms standing guard at Parliament's honor gate had become a familiar sight over the years.

The last of the personnel from the now-defunct Parliament Battalion have been re-assigned to the Presidential Guard Regiment.
