Founder of Ethio-jazz on Muğla stage

Ethiopian musician and composer Mulatu Astatke will bring his unique sound to Ottoflamm in the southern province of Muğla on Aug. 19. Astatke is a music legend who is considered to be the creator of the Ethio-Jazz genre. Gilles Peterson has said his music is the ultimate form to reach. He is the first African student of Berklee College. He combines traditional Ethiopian folk music with classic jazz and latin rhythms. Currently he is working with the London-based jazz formation, “Heliocentrics.” His trademark instrument is the vibraphone.
