Dutch FM to visit Syrian refugees in Turkey

Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal is scheduled to visit a shelter housing Syrians under temporary protection in Turkey during a two-day official visit, which begins today, to discuss bilateral relations with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced yesterday.The Syria crisis is also expected to be discussed by the ministers. Rosenthal has planned to visit a shelter where Syrians under temporary protection in Kilis in Turkey. Ankara has expressed the expectation that Rosenthal’s visit will “sustain the momentum achieved by reciprocal high level visits in 2012, at a time of celebrations on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations” between the two countries. It is also hoped that the visit “will further deepen the already existing friendship and cooperation between Turkey and the Netherlands on current regional and international issues,” according to the statement.
