A women's center came under attack last night as unknown suspects hurled explosives and Molotov cocktails at the building in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, private broadcaster CNNTürk reported.Gov. Mustafa Toprak said the attack was perpetrated by five unidentified suspects wearing masks and that a total of 10 Molotov cocktails, three home-made explosives, as well as fireworks, were thrown at the building. No one was killed in the attack, but the building was heavily damaged.
The governor further called the attack the "clearest form of violence against women and children."
"This center provides courses for women and children that allow them to live their lives and to have jobs," Toprak said.
