White Cloth at Gallery Apel
The second of İdil Akbostancı’s solo exhibitions, “White Cloth,” which she conceived as a series, is on view at Istanbul’s Gallery Apel until March 30. In her works, Akbostancı explores the alienation between urbanites and nature. She composes her work using the expressive possibilities of textile materials.
Through the textile landscapes in her show “white cloth-II,” she proposes new ideational processes.
While the interaction between viewer and artwork is reinforced by landscapes devoid of any human beings or anything manmade, realistic depictions left colorless and empty become areas open to individual associations. The exhibition enables viewers to distance themselves from their own realities and build other, personalized realities around the composition before them. Address: Hayriye Cad. No. 5A, Galatasaray
