Wealthy businessman founds research center

Asyalı founded a research center at the Middle East Technical University, where he lectured until 1979.
Yalçın Ayaslı, who ranked 90th on a list of the 100 richest Turks published by Forbes magazine, has founded a research center at Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ). Ayaslı worked as an academic at ODTÜ until 1979.Researchers and academics at ODTÜ will be able to carry out studies related to the defense industry, medicine, radar technology, and energy systems at the Ayaslı Research Center. Millions of dollars were invested in the center, which is a “smart” building that generates its own power and reuses treated water on site.
The 6,000-square-meter center features 19 research laboratories. ODTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Acar said the center will be especially crucial for research related to the defense industry.
