Several events set to take place at santralistanbul, the venue that hosted Istanbul's One Love Festival, which was subject to a controversial alcohol ban, have now been canceled for undisclosed reasons, daily Hürriyet reported. The sun.day.sky Festival, which was set to take place at the venue, was recently canceled. A Stevie Wonder concert scheduled for Sept. 14 was also moved to a different location by the event's organizers.
The cancellations are allegedly related to the alcohol ban that had taken festival goers by surprise last month, when the One Love festival management was not allowed to serve alcohol in the venue "despite having all the necessary permits."
Officials gave no response to the alcohol allegations.
A school campus is no place to go and "get drunk,” the prime minister said in a belated response to criticism over the sudden cancellation of alcohol licenses.
The prime minister said he had personally called the school's administration about the matter.
"I said, ‘What on earth is this?’ And I told them we were upset about this,” he said.
