Two Turkish soldiers killed in N Iraq
ANKARA
Two Turkish soldiers were killed on Oct. 16 in northern Iraq by an improvised explosive device, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement.
The military also said that eight outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed in air raids, which followed a clash between the armed forces and militants.
Meanwhile, two Turkish soldiers were killed in a PKK attack in the southeastern province of Hakkari.
PKK militants detonated a hand-made explosive planted on a road in Hakkari’s Çukurca district, near the Iraqi border, during the passage of a military vehicle carrying soldiers.
An operation to apprehend the militants involved has been launched following the explosion.
