Two Turkish companies to build new Schiphol pier

A joint venture between TAV Construction and Ballast Nedam, which is owned by Turkey’s Rönesans Holding, will build the planned new pier at Amsterdam’s Schphol Airport.
The Royal Schiphol Group awarded the contract for the construction of the new pier at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to the joint venture, Rönesans Holding said in a statement on April 12.
The contract includes the construction of the pier, gatehouses and the surrounding aircraft stands, read the statement.
With an area of 55,000 square meters, the new pier will feature five gates for narrow-body aircraft on the north side and three gates for wide-body aircraft on the south side, it added.
The gates on the south side can also be used to accommodate six narrow-body aircraft. Two wide-body gates will be added to the south side at a later stage. These two gates are not part of the assignment.
The commissioning of the pier is planned for the end of 2019, according to the statement.
Ballast Nedam CEO Cenk Düzyol reiterated that Rönesans acquired Ballas Nedam in 2015 with an eye on expansion in Europe.
“In a short time after the acquisition, we achieved to increase our Europe revenue to over 1 billion euros,” Düzyol said, vowing to “continue representing Turkey abroad with success.”
