Two Syrian children killed after fire erupts in Istanbul apartment

Two Syrian children were killed and two residents wounded when a fire erupted at an apartment in Istanbul’s Zeytinburnu district early on Feb. 12.The fire started at 4:30 a.m. at Güler Apartment in Zeytinburnu’s Yeşilyol and spread to a flat inhabited by a Syrian family of six.
The mother, Muntua Veysi and one of her children were rescued, unharmed. However, two other children, five-year-old Reyen and eight-year-old Veysi, did not survive the fire.
Meanwhile, the father, Muhammed Veysi, and another child sustained light injuries and were brought to Bağcılar State Hospital for treatment.
Reports indicate the family fled the war in Syria two years ago and arrived in Istanbul, where Muhammed Veysi works at a shoe manufacturer.
