Two soldiers detained in coup attempt escape from military hospital in Turkish capital

Two soldiers detained in coup attempt escape from military hospital in Turkish capital Two military officers who had been detained after the July 15 failed coup attempt and been receiving treatment at the Gülhane Military Hospital (GATA) in the capital Ankara escaped on July 20.

Infantry Staff Capt. Sadık K. and Gendarmerie Second Lt. İsmail D. escaped from the hospital in the morning hours. The two soldiers had been detained for allegedly being members of the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ), which was blamed for the failed coup attempt on July 15.

Meanwhile, security units warned all units that the escaped soldiers could be armed and to conduct works with caution for their personal safety.

The identity information and photographs of the escaped soldiers were also distributed to all police units.

Police were currently working to apprehend the fleeing soldiers.
