Two new airports to open by end of July

Two new airports in the southeastern provinces of Turkey are expected to come into service by the end of this month.An airport in Şırnak will come into service on July 12 and Bingöl Airport on July 26, as announced by the Transport, Maritime and Communication Ministry’s Directorate General of Infrastructure Investments.
The operation rights of two airports have been transferred to the General Director of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) on July 4. With these new airports, the number of airports in service in Turkey will increase to 52. Each of the airports are expected to have an annual 500,000 passenger capacity.
Meanwhile, an airport that has been inactive in the Black Sea province of Kastamonu for 54 years came back into operation on July 5. Turkish Airlines made a flight from Istanbul to Kastamonu.
