Two juvenile prisoners injured during jail fire
Two juvenile prisoners have been injured during a prison fire in the eastern province of Malatya that reportedly broke out during a mutiny on the evening of Dec. 17.
Juvenile inmates at the Malatya E-type prison are thought to have set their beds alight to convey the message that they had the right to stay in the same ward as their friends, Doğan news agency reported.
Gendarmerie troops broke down the doors of the wards and forcefully quelled the mutiny. Two children were later hospitalized for smoke inhalation and burns.
The semi-official Anatolia news agency confirmed the injuries, but said the exact cause of the fire was unknown. k HDN
