Turks donate for Syrian people across country

Many people across Turkey lent a hand to the Syrian people following prayers Dec. 28 as part of the international aid campaign “Kış Geldi, Suriye İçin Bir Ekmek, Bir Battaniye” (Winter Comes, Bread and Blanket for Syria).

Imams draw attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria and called for aid to be donated to the Syrian people during sermons at mosques across the country, including Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Kayseri, Konya, Samsun, Ordu, Hatay, Gaziantep and Diyarbakır, according to Anatolia news agency.
Turkey has started the international campaign to aid the Syrian people with the support of the Prime Ministry and Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency.

Erdoğan to visit refugees in Şanlıurfa

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit Syrian refuges staying in tent cities in the southeastern border province of Şanlıurfa. Erdoğan will pay a two-day visit to Şanlıurfa, beginning on Dec. 29.

On the first day of the visit, he will attend ceremonies to open facilities and gather with members of his Justice and Development Party (AKP), as well as with representative of civil society organizations. On Dec. 30, Erdoğan will visit the towns of Akçakale and Ceylanpınar, each of which is home to tent cities for Syrian refugees.

Erdoğan will also visit Şanlıurfa’s Viranşehir district on Dec. 30, when he will become just the second prime minister to visit this town, following former President and former Prime Minister Süleyman Demirel in 1968, Anatolia news agency reported.
