Turkmenistan leader pays visit to Turkey

Turkmenistan President Berdimuhammedov, on his first foreign visit after his recent re-election, discussed ways of boosting bilateral economic cooperation with Turkish President Abdullah Gül yesterday.“We made a number of new decisions in today’s meetings. I want to thank my brother Berdimuhamedov for the support given to Turkish businessmen and contractors in Turkmenistan’s recent development thrust,” President Gül said in a joint press conference yesterday. The two leaders signed cooperation agreements in trade, tourism, security and judiciary. “Common history, culture, religion, beliefs have made us different states of a single nation. With this understanding, we move solidarity between two countries forward. Berdimuhamedov shows a good example of leadership and statesmanship to develop Turkmenistan, a country of strategic importance,” Gül said. For his part, Berdimuhamedov said the fruits of political, commercial and cultural efforts between Turkmenistan and Turkey could be seen in every field, that Turkmenistan considered Turkey a strategic partner.
