Turkish teacher face rape charges after sex with US student

A 36-year-old female Turkish teacher in New York has been charged with statutory rape after allegedly having sex with one of her male high school students, daily Hürriyet reported.The allegations emerged after the 16-year-old student's girlfriend informed the school's authorities after she obtained records of private Facebook correspondence between the two.
According to the Brooklyn district prosecutor, Erin Sayar and 16-year old Kevin Eng sent each other over 3,500 text messages in 17 days and engaged in sexual intercourse at least eight times – three instances of which took place on school grounds. The couple also allegedly took drugs during their rendezvous.
Sayar, who has denied all accusations in court, was released on bail that was posted by her American husband. The woman now faces charges of rape, sexual abuse, criminal sexual behavior and endangering a minor.
If convicted, she could face up to four years in jail.
Eng's parents also filed a lawsuit against Sayar, demanding over 10 million dollars in damages.
