Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım will pay a visit to Russia on Dec 5 and 6 to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev, sources have told daily Hürriyet.Yıldırım will be accompanied by a delegation of businessmen and will mainly focus on enhancing economic and trade ties, as well as cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and tourism.
Ankara and Moscow launched a process of normalization of bilateral relations after ties were severely damaged because Turkish warplanes downed a Russian jet on Nov. 24, 2015. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin have held three meetings since July in a bid to accelerate the normalization process.
The two presidents are next expected to come together in January for a High-Level Cooperation Council meeting.
