Turkish PM Erdoğan to meet Hamas leader Meshal

Hamas leader Khaleed Meshal and the head of the Palestinian Government Ismail Haniyye will pay a snap visit to Ankara on Tuesday, the Anatolia news agency reported June 17.Meshal and Haniyye will meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other senior Turkish government officials. Erdoğan vowed to go to Gaza in May but later had to postpone it to June. There is still no date set for Erdoğan’s planned visit to the enclave as Turkish officials expressed their intention to carry out the visit following the unification of the two main Palestinian political camps, Hamas and Fatah.
Although talks between the two groups have intensified, no breakthrough for a unity government is in sight yet. Erdoğan is expected to discuss the details of his visit to Gaza with the visiting Palestinian officials.
