Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will meet June 6 in the wake of a request to do so from the latter, daily Hürriyet reported today.
"The CHP asked for an appointment with me. I told my friends to give an appointment," Erdoğan said yesterday during a visit to the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
Last week, the CHP had asked for the appointment with the prime minister to discuss its views on the Kurdish issue.
“I hope we will meet with the prime minister in the coming days. This [Kurdish] issue is not a problem the government can resolve alone. The mothers of martyrs are asking me why we politicians don’t solve this problem everywhere I go. I’m sure the prime minister has received similar demands. We cannot solve this issue alone, but we can contribute to a solution,” Kılıçdaroğlu said last week during an interview with private news channel CNNTürk.
