Turkish museums get perfection certificate

Göreme Open Air Museum, in Göreme district of Nevşehir, is among the institutions and museums that received a perfection certificate.

Some Turkish museums have received perfection certificates from the well-known travel website, Tripadvisor.com, after the site’s visitors voted on museums around the world. The Antalya Archaeological Museum, Antalya Side Museum, Anadolu Civilizations Museum and Göreme Open Air Museum are among the institutions that received a perfection certificate. Gaziantep’s Zeugma Museum had already received a perfection certificate from the online company earlier.

Antalya Side Museum is located in the town of Side in Manavgat District, 8 kilometers from Manavgat. An ancient agora bathhouse dating from the Roman Empire was restored in 1960 and converted into a museum. The majority of the museum’s exhibits feature the ruins discovered by Dr. Arif Müfid Mansel in excavations conducted from 1947 to 1967 in the ancient town of Side. There are inscriptions, weapon embossing from the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, sculptures from the Roman period that are copies of Greek originals, busts, temples, tomb steles, portraits, ostotecs and column pedestals on exhibition in the museum. The Antalya Archaeological Museum is one of Turkey’s largest museums.
