Turkish man charged with terrorism in Germany

Prosecutors said in a statement the man identified only as Aslan Y. was charged March 17.

The man is suspected of being a PKK leader in southern Germany between 1993 and 1994 and is alleged to have given the orders for "countless attacks," AP reported.

Prosecutors said he is believed to be behind seven arson attacks in 1993 on Turkish and German targets including clubs, restaurants and businesses. One person died as a result of the attacks.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.
