Four Turkish engineers are now looking for a place to land their redesigned helicopter, following its previous crash last year.

The helicopter was designed by graduate students from Marmara University and was built through their own means. However, the previous test last year did not go smoothly and the helicopter crashed during the test run.

The engineers went back and reevaluated their project, rebuilding the helicopter again in their hometown of Van, calling it the “Vankopter.” The rebuilding cost about 15,000 Turkish Liras in total.

Some parts of the helicopter were brought in to Van, while others were provided by local suppliers. The engineers are now looking for a landing area and are calling for investors to help develop their projects further.

“We are ready to fly as soon as the landing area is ready,” Murat Güney, one of the four engineers, as well as the helicopter’s pilot, told daily Hürriyet.
