Turkish jets hit PKK targets in southeast Turkey, northern Iraq

Turkish jets have hit outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq, in the first aerial operation since the snap election on Nov 1, the Turkish military has announced.Shelters, sanctuaries and weapon pits used by PKK militants in “Hakkari and Metina, Zap, Avaşin-Basyan, Hakurk, Gara and the Kandil regions of northern Iraq” were targeted in the operation, the statement said.
The operation is the first since snap elections were held in Turkey on Nov. 1, when the Justice and Development Party (AKP) won back its parliamentary majority.
