Turkish industrial output up in November

Turkey has taken solace in booming industry amid its stagnating export performance and tumbling markets, with official data released yesterday showing that the country’s industrial production had risen above expectations in November.The country’s calendar adjusted industrial production index increased 4.7 percent in November compared to November 2012, while the seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production index rose by 2.9 percent compared to the previous month, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
In the sub sectors of the industry, while the mining and quarrying indexes both increased 1.7 percent and the manufacturing index increased 3.6 percent, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply indexes decreased 1.4 percent in November, compared to October.
According to the Main Industrial Groupings (MIGs) classification, the largest increase came in intermediate goods, which rose 4.5 percent in November 2013, compared to the previous month.
