Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will attend an annual security conference to be held in Munich between Feb. 17 and 19, the ministry announced on Feb. 15.

Çavuşoğlu will deliver a speech at a panel and will also conduct bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference, the ministry stated. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım is also expected to briefly attend the conference and hold a bilateral meeting with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.

The Munich Security Conference is an important annual international forum where current and future security challenges are discussed with the participation of numerous high-level political leaders, politicians, decision-makers, academics and international security experts. This year’s conference is expected to cover issues such as Syria, counter terrorism, NATO, transatlantic relations, European defense, migration, cybersecurity and energy security.
