Turkish FM talks Palestine with Hamas chief

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu met with Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on April 21 to discuss the Arab-Israeli dispute and the reconciliation process between Hamas and Fatah.In a one-hour meeting, Mashaal said he is not hopeful about the peace talks between Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that Israel is deliberately bringing forward new conditions to avoid reaching a solution, daily Hürriyet reported. Mashaal also said he is hopeful for the establishment of a unity government between Hamas and Fatah.
Davutoğlu reiterated his support for Palestine. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he also met with Mashaal during his visit to Qatar, where he attended the 13th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
