Turkish firms to attend Bangkok defense fair next week

Turkey will show off its latest defense products at southeast Asia’s leading defense exhibition, Defense & Security 2017, set to start in Bangkok, Thailand on Nov. 6.
Over 400 leading defense companies and security firms from 50 countries are expected to attend the event, which will run through Nov. 9.
Eighteen defense companies from Turkey, led by the state Defense Industries Undersecretariat and the Defense and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association, will be present.
Turkish-made ATAK helicopters, ammunition, rockets, and missiles will be among the wares that Turkey plans to show.
Establishing a “national defense industry using the country’s own resources” is a part of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) objectives for the 2023 centennial of the Republic of Turkey.
