Turkish firm to export gas to Greece, says CEO
ANKARA – Reuters
Turkish Angora Gaz, owned by Türkerler Holding, has received a license from the energy watchdog EPDK to sell 30 million cubic meters of gas annually to Greece, the company’s general manager, Gökhan Yardım, announced.“The 30-year contract will be in effect by this year. We will start to export 30 million cubic meters of gas to Greece via the pipelines of [Turkey’s state-run] BOTAŞ. Our plan was to start the process this year, but we cannot as BOTAŞ did not give any capacity,” he said.
The company plans to supply the gas from the local wholesalers.
BOTAŞ has also had a license to sell 750 million cubic meters of gas to Greece annually.
The country’s annual consumption is around 4.6 billion cubic meters (bcm), according to the official numbers. Greece secures its need from various sources, including LNG.
