Turkish film wins in Iraq film festival

‘Silent’ won the Best Film Award at the 1st International Kelar Short Film Festival in Suleymaniah.
Turkish director Rezan Yeşilbaş’s film “Sessiz” (Silent) won the Best Film Award at the 1st International Kelar Short Film Festival, organized in the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniah. Turkish actress Nihal Yalçın also won the Best Actress award at the event.Over the course of the four-day festival, 57 films were shown. Four Turkish short films competed for the Best Film award: “Penceredeki Ses” (Sound in Window), “Zaman” (Time), “Sessiz,” and “Güvercin” (Dove).
Award-winning film
The film previously won the Palme d’Or in the 65th Cannes Film Festival’s short film contest.
Festival director, Zana Muhammet, said the festival had been very successful in its first year. The films that won the big awards at the festival will now be shown again in Sulaymaniah and in London.
