Turkish Cypriot PM calls on president to act fairly
NICOSIA - Anatolia News Agency
Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister İrsen Küçük yesterday called on the president to use his rights, rightfully given by the Constitution, a day after the government fell.“Our expectations from the president [Derviş Eroğlu] are not to act sentimentally, but to do exactly whatever the Constitution and laws say … These codes describe the process. Our expectation from the president is to use his rights given by the Constitution objectively,” Küçük, who chairs the ruling National Unity Party (UBP), told reporters in a press conference in Nicosia.
The Turkish Cypriot government fell June 5 after a vote of no confidence passed through Parliament. Küçük was expected to hand his resignation to President Eroğlu yesterday.
