Turkish citizen detained in Greece in anti-terror operation

A 51-year-old Turkish citizen was taken into custody in the Greek city of Thessaloniki on Feb. 15 as part of the anti-terror operation against the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C).Hasan Koşar, also known as “Çetin,” will be sent to the prosecution office on Feb. 18. Another Turkish citizen, Murat Korkut, who was also taken into custody, was released after police took his testimony.
Koşar, who is wanted by Turkish officials, has been living in Greece for 20 years and had previously been detained and then released together with at least 14 people, including DHKP/C members Havva Suiçmez and Nevzat Kalaycı, after an explosion in Thessaoloniki.
The group’s leader, as well as a fugitive suspect in the 1996 murder of Turkish businessman Özdemir Sabancı, was among four Turkish citizens arrested in an anti-terror operation in the country last week.
