Turkish-American university to open soon: Business association
ISTANBUL - Anadolu Agency
The Turkish-American Business Association American Chamber of Commerce (TABA/AmCham) will start to work for the establishment of a Turkish-American university with a focus on IT technologies education in 2016, the new president of the association has said.“After the U.S.-Turkey Strategic Economic and Trade Cooperation Framework initiative was launched by U.S. President Barack Obama and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in 2009, we have seen many opportunities to build closer ties in trade and social areas between the two countries… Among the projects we have focused on in line with this mission is the establishment of a Turkish-American university which specializes on information technologies education,” said the association’s head, Bora Gürçay, on late July 7.
The working schedule to build the university will be finalized by September, he said.
“We will start the official process for the establishment of the university in 2016,” he noted.
Gürçay also said one of the aims of the association was to invite Turkish automotive sector representatives to make investment in the U.S.
“Two Turkish companies will be announcing their first vehicles, which they will produce in the U.S., in the next American-Turkish Council [ATC] meeting. Besides, a giant U.S.-based company will reveal its investment plans in Turkey in coordination with our association,” he said.
