Turkish Airlines to sponsor Champions League

Turkish Airlines is set to become the official airline sponsor of the UEFA Champions League for a term of three years, the company announced March 24.“The board of directors has decided that Turkish Airlines will be the official airline sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, which is considered one of the most prestigious football [competitions] in the world,” the Turkish flag carrier said in a statement.
The sponsorship will last for a term of three years, and aims to “contribute to our global brand awareness and brand perception,” the statement added.
Based in Nyon, Switzerland, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is the governing body of European football, and a continental confederation of the world football governing body FIFA, which is based in Zurich.
The Champions League is one of the most prestigious and popular tournaments in the world.
Turkey’s flag-carrier airline is the sponsor for Europe’s top basketball tournament Euroleague along with Spain’s Barcelona and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund football divisions.
