Turkish Airlines flight attendants on strike join Gezi Park ‘marauders’ with parody

Turkish Airlines flight attendants hug each other in a video that went viral on the web.

The air stewards of Turkish Airlines on strike for better working conditions have also joined the “marauder” (Çapulcu) movement, hallmark of the Gezi Park demonstrations with a colorful event inspired by the recent wave of protests rocking Turkey. 

Hundreds of flight attendants wearing Guy Fawkes masks enacted the in-flight safety demonstrations at the Galatasaray Square in Istanbul, just a few hundred meters from the park which became the heart of the protests.

During the parody, the air stewards criticized with humor the lack of media coverage and its lack of support for their strike. The wave of resistance shaking Turkey seemed to give some ideas to the stewards. They ended their small sketch by reciting the same call to action as the Gezi Park demonstrators: “We will win by resisting!” The video of their parody went viral on the web in a matter of hours.
