Turkey's privatization income totals $4 bln in first half of year

Ankara made 8 billion Turkish Liras (around $4.1 billion) from privatizations in the first six months of the year, according to new figures released by the Privatization Authority (ÖİB).Some 87 tenders were conducted between January and July by the ÖİB, while agreements were signed for privatizations worth 15.1 billion liras during the same period.
The ÖİB conducted one block sale, 13 paid conveyances and 157 facilities and assets sales. The total revenue from the privatizations, including the receipts from sales in previous years, totaled 8 billion liras.
The privatization for the operation of power plants on rivers (at Göksu, Berdan, Hasanlar and Kısık) belonging to the Turkish Electricity Generation Corporation (EÜAŞ) was the most valuable at $162.4 million.
There are currently 29 enterprises and facilities whose privatization has been approved for a total of $4.2 billion, although their sale is still at the signing stage.
