Turkey's president congratulates Barzani

Turkish President on May 30 congratulated Nechirvan Barzani on his election as president of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to Barzani over the phone, according to Turkey's presidential communications office.
The regional parliament of northern Iraq's Kurdish region on May 30 elected Barzani president of the region.
Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) emerged as the largest bloc in parliament following elections last September with 45 seats.
