Turkey's Mardin prepares to become a ‘brand city’

Within the scope of a 30-month project that will cost 9.2 million euros Mardin’s physical tourism infrastructure will be developed to become a brand city.
A protocol has recently been signed for the inclusion of the eastern province of Mardin into the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. At a ceremony held at the Mardin Museum, a project was promoted to make the city of Mardin a “brand city.”Governor Ahmet Cengiz said the different and rich tissue of the city should be shown to the world, and talked about the new project to be implemented in the city.
“Campaigns will be held in Turkey and the world for the promotion of this city. Within the scope of this 30-month project, Mardin’s physical tourism infrastructure will be developed. The facades of buildings will be improved and standard signboards, shutters and sunshades will be placed on the streets. The most important part of the project is that Mardin will be included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list as a brand city,” he said. The cost of the project will be 9.2 million euros, according to the mayor.
