Turkey’s economy minister predicts 5 pct 2012 growth

ISTANBUL - Anatolia News Agency
Turkey will grow nearly 5 percent in 2012 even though the country’s medium-term program has estimated a rate of 4 percent while the IMF predicted growth of only 2.3 percent, Turkey’s economy minister said yesterday.

“I believe that Turkey can achieve a growth rate of nearly 5 percent in 2012 following a robust 9.2 percent growth rate in 2010 and 8.5 percent last year,” Zafer Çağlayan told the 10th edition of the Istanbul Forum, an international platform designed to bring together Turkish and international business leaders, civil servants, technocrats, as well as global cultural and politics figures.
