Turkey’s automotive sales soar by 51 percent in first half of year: Association

Turkey’s automotive sales soar by 51 percent in first half of year: Association

Sales of cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey grew by more than 50 percent to 432,550 in the first half of 2015 from the same period of last year, the Automotive Distributors’ Association (ODD) said in its monthly report on July 3.  

The total sales in the market were around 286,861 in the January-June period last year, according to ODD data. Light commercial vehicles were the major factor in the improvement, up 71 percent in the first half of the year to 104,704 units. Overall vehicle sales rose by 45.2 percent in the first half of this year to 327,846 compared to the same period of 2014. 

In June some 86,158 vehicles were sold in Turkey, up 45.2 percent from June 2014. Over 67,000 cars and 18,392 light commercials vehicles were sold in June, an increase of 43.3 percent and 42.7 percent respectively compared to the same month in 2014. 

The ODD forecasts the Turkish automotive market to increase to about 1 million vehicle sales by the end of year.
