Turkey welcomes start of Eid-al Fitr holidays

Turkey welcomed the beginning of the Eid-al Fitr holiday, also known as the Ramadan Holiday, which began today as Ramadan came to an end after its 30-day reign.With holiday shopping done and vacations planned, the country greeted the three-day Eid holiday, which officially began with a half work day yesterday.
People rushed to the highways to head out to their vacation spots, causing 15 kilometer traffic lines to form on the TEM highway. Thousands of people suffered through excessive traffic jams, which have turned into a bitter holiday tradition for those who resort to personal vehicles to hit the road.
Turkish President Abdullah Gül released a message to wish the country happy holidays, and expressed his joy at Turkey spending a peaceful Ramadan.
