The Turkish Prime Ministry’s Directorate General of Press and Information has called on citizens today no travel to parts of Niger other than the capital city of Nimaey, because of the tense situation in neighboring Mali.“In accordance to the military operation in Mali, it is observed that security threats have risen in Niger, which is a neighbor [to Mali] and provides soldiers for the operation,” the office said in a press release yesterday.
An African force, known as the African-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA), is sending soldiers to Mali to aid in the country’s fight against Islamist militants.
