Turkey urges UN Council on Syria
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
Turkey urged the U.N. Security Council to focus “seriously” on the unrest in Syria and give the Syrian authorities the “necessary message to stop the grave course of events” in the country.“It is imperative that all sides open up the way for a peaceful political transition,” a foreign ministry statement said.
“In this context, it is expected that the U.N. Security Council, in coordination and consultation with the Arab League, focuses in all seriousness on the situation in Syria and gives the necessary message to the Syrian Administration in order to stop this acute course of events,” the statement said.
Turkey is “deeply concerned by the sharp escalation of the Syrian Administration’s acts of violence against its own people and the consequent loss of lives,” the statement added.
