Turkey needs to listen to what jailed HDP co-chair says: Main opposition lawmaker
EDİRNE
Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) lawmaker Tuncay Özkan has said Turkey needs to listen to what jailed co-chair of the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş says, after he paid a visit to the latter in prison in the western province of Edirne on April 28.“He has terrific thoughts on justice, freedom, peace and Turkey’s unity. The things he will say starting from the first hearing are very significant,” Özkan said on his Twitter account on April 30.
“He says hi to everyone. Demirtaş needs to be listened to more carefully,” he added.
Demirtaş, who was arrested on Nov. 4, 2016, faces hundreds of years in prison over his alleged links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
