Turkey has donated 10 million euros to Serbia for a civilian airport project in the southern city of Kraljevo.Turkish Ambassador in Belgrade Ali Riza Çolak and Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac signed the donation agreement on April 28. The money will be used to modernize the Morava Airport near Karljevo.
Sutanovac thanked Turkey for its support and said nearly 2 million people would have the chance to travel in a modern way after refurbishment on the airport is completed.
The project is a symbol of friendship between Turkey and Serbia, the ambassador said, adding that such projects would continue and that there would be more Turkish investments made in Serbia in the future.
Morava is the third civilian airport in Serbia along with others in Belgrade and Nis.
The support comes at a time when Turkish Airlines, Turkey’s national carrier, is planning to buy out Serbia’s JAT Airlines.
