Turkey Democracy Platform pays respect to victims of Istanbul nightclub attack

Members of Turkey Democracy Platform have released a press statement and laid carnations outside Istanbul’s Reina nightclub, where a gunman killed at least 39 New Year’s Eve revelers in the early hours of Jan. 1.  

“We will never accept such abominable attempts, as a democratic, social and secular state. We are here to emphasize this and embrace the rule of law,” said Kezban Hatemi, adding that some “inglorious postings” on social media praising the attack were “hurtful.” 

“Turkey Democracy Platform strongly condemns this kind of mentality,” she said.
