Turkey an example to be followed for Tunisia: Arınç
ANKARA
Arab youth will get what they want through participating in the political process instead of rioting, Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç has advised a group of youngsters from Tunisia. Arınç offered Turkey as an example with its democratic achievements over the last 20 years. “I was sentenced to five years for violating the principle of secularism in 1985. But now we have changed so many laws and these are no longer considered crimes,” he told Tunisian youth yesterday. “Thanks to the reforms carried out, the country is being ruled by civilian governments and the military is just doing its job,” he said.“What we understand from secularism is carrying out freely what everybody believes,” the minister said.
