Türk Telekom elected to European telecom networks board

For the second time in a row, Türk Telekom has been elected onto the Board of Directors of the European Telecommunications Network Operators’ Association (ETNO), becoming the only Turkish company on the board.The ETNO shapes the regulatory and commercial environment for its members and recently launched the instrumental “Think Digital” agenda for Europe.
Türk Telekom was elected to the board during the ETNO’s General Assembly in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.
In a written statement issued on Oct. 25, the company said the election marked a “vote of confidence that uniquely positions Türk Telekom’s leadership in the international arena.”
The ETNO governs approximately 70 percent of the telecommunications eco-system service investment in Europe.
It has 50 members across 35 countries. Member operators have a turnover of 600 billion Euros in total and employ a total of 1.6 million people.
“It is indeed a very important responsibility for Türk Telekom to represent Turkey amongst the decision-shapers of the telecommunications sector in Europe. Türk Telekom performs a major role as the only Turkish company to have a voice not only in Europe, but also on the global and regional platforms,” said Türk Telekom CEO Rami Aslan.
