Türk Telekom acquires broadcast rights for Champions League, Europa League

Türk Telekom has acquired broadcasting rights for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europe League matches for three seasons from the beginning of the 2015-2016 season, according a written statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) Nov. 26.“Our subsidiary TTNET has acquired the broadcasting rights to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches in Turkey for three consecutive seasons from the beginning of the 2015-2016 season. The matches will be broadcasted on Tivibu, the digital pay-TV platform of the Türk Telekom group.
A deal was also inked with Turkey’s state-run TRT for the matches which must be broadcasted on free-of-charge channels in line with the protocols of UEFA,” said the statement.
Tivibu reaches consumers on any screen including TV, tablet, PC, mobile phone and smart TV. The platform had 1.8 million subscribers as of the end of 2013, according to the company’s website.
